Recent work: elevator power in Paterson public housing
Several of our recent Paterson projects have been the electrical side of elevator modernizations in multifamily and public housing buildings — machine room power and disconnects, feeders to the new controllers, and hoistway lighting and receptacles, working alongside the elevator contractor.
This is unglamorous work that goes badly when it is treated as an afterthought. An elevator modernization has a fixed outage window, and the building’s residents are living with one car out of service while it runs. The electrical has to be surveyed against panels that are often decades old and undocumented, the new load has to actually fit, and the disconnect and lighting requirements have to satisfy the elevator inspector on the first visit — because a failed inspection does not just cost a day, it extends the outage for everyone in the building.

Working in Paterson
