Nextgen Electric provides commercial, industrial, and residential electrical service in Hackensack, New Jersey — the Bergen County seat, and one of the densest concentrations of medical, office, government, and multifamily buildings in North Jersey.

We handle electrical construction, service, and maintenance for medical offices and healthcare facilities, downtown office and professional buildings, retail and restaurants along Main Street and Route 4, and the high-rise residential development that has reshaped the city.

As a registered NJ public works contractor with DPMC classification, SBE certification, and SDA prequalification, we are bid-ready for Hackensack municipal, board of education, and Bergen County projects.

Medical & Healthcare Facilities

Hackensack is a medical city. Beyond the hospital campus itself, the surrounding blocks are thick with medical office buildings, specialty practices, imaging centers, surgical suites, and labs — and that work carries requirements ordinary commercial space does not.

Emergency and standby power. Clean, reliable distribution for imaging and diagnostic equipment. Code requirements that leave no margin. And above all, scheduling around patient care — much of this work happens evenings and weekends because it has to.

We handle service and repair, distribution and panel work, standby generators and transfer switches, fire alarm systems, and medical office fit-outs.

Commercial, Office & Retail

As the county seat, Hackensack carries county government buildings, courts, and a dense professional office core, plus the retail and restaurant corridors along Main Street and the Route 4 commercial belt.

Multifamily & High-Rise

Hackensack’s downtown has seen substantial residential high-rise development, and that brings a distinct set of needs: house panels and distribution, common-area and garage lighting, emergency and egress lighting, fire alarm systems with 24/7 monitoring, access control at controlled entries, and EV charging in resident parking — increasingly expected by tenants and often required in new construction.

Recent Project: 50 Main Street, Hackensack

Nextgen Electric performed the complete electrical installation for 50 Main Street — a ground-up, five-story mixed-use building with retail at street level and apartments above. Our scope covered the service and distribution, tenant metering, power for the retail spaces, unit and common-area lighting, emergency and egress lighting, and the fire alarm system throughout.
Mixed-use construction is less forgiving than it looks. House power, tenant power, and retail power all have to be metered and separated correctly from the service entrance on down, and the residential occupancy brings fire alarm and egress requirements the retail side does not. Those decisions get locked in early in a ground-up job, which is why we would rather be involved during preconstruction than after the slab is poured.

Residential Electrical Service

Our service department handles homes and condos throughout Hackensack — repairs and troubleshooting, panel and service upgrades, lighting, and EV charger installation.

Much of Hackensack’s housing predates modern electrical demand, which means undersized services, fuse panels, ungrounded circuits, and Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels worth evaluating. Condo and high-rise work brings its own considerations around building rules, access, and shared infrastructure.
